Our Story
Three Men, One Office, and a City About to Boom
On February 25, 1962, three men working in real estate opened a firm on the north side of High Point. Harold Craven took home sales. Garnett Pollock worked with builders. Harold Johnson ran property management — the discipline he knew best, and the one that would eventually anchor the entire company. They put their three names on the door, in that order, and got to work.

The timing was good. High Point was pushing outward, and the fields at the edge of town were becoming neighborhoods. Craven-Johnson-Pollock was among the first firms in the area to work in subdivision development, representing the builders putting up houses in what were then the outlying parts of the city. Streets that are now solidly mid-town were, at the time, the frontier and CJP was selling them.

As High Point grew into the furniture capital of America, the firm grew with it. Manufacturing and warehousing expanded, and CJP moved into commercial and industrial brokerage to serve them. When the High Point Furniture Market became the largest of its kind in the world, the firm developed a specialization in showroom real estate. None of it was a strategic expansion plan. Each service line grew because clients needed it.

The partnership changed over the years, as partnerships do. Pollock left in the 1970s. Harold Craven stayed with the firm until 2005, after which the Johnson family took over sole ownership. The name never changed. Six decades on, the sign still reads Craven-Johnson-Pollock.

High Point has changed a great deal since 1962. The market has seen booms, corrections, and everything in between. We have been here through all of it in the same city, as the same business, with the same way of doing things. That kind of continuity is not a marketing claim. It is what happens when a firm continues to do the work.

Three Generations
Built in High Point. Built for High Point.
Harold Johnson helped start this company. His son Hal joined in 1983 and led it for the better part of four decades. In 2025, Hal's son Harry took over as president and broker-in-charge. Harry is the third generation to run the firm, and the third to keep it independent.

That is more rare than it used to be. The independent, family-owned real estate firm has largely disappeared from this market, absorbed into franchises and national chains. CJP is one of the few left and staying that way has been a deliberate choice, not an accident.
What it buys our clients is continuity. The person who advises you on a property today is likely to still be here when you sell it. Institutional memory about a neighborhood, a building, or a market cycle does not walk out the door at the end of a quarter. When a firm has been in the same city for sixty-four years, it has a reputation to protect and that changes how it does business.

The Team
The People Behind CJP
Service Area
Serving the Piedmont Triad
Guilford County • Davidson County • Randolph County • Forsyth County
CJP serves High Point and the broader Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, with active coverage across Guilford, Davidson, Randolph, and Forsyth Counties. Our four-county footprint encompasses major cities including High Point, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, Thomasville, Lexington, Asheboro, Archdale, Jamestown, and Kernersville as well as the surrounding communities, rural parcels, and development corridors that connect them.
Our geographic focus is deliberate. By concentrating on this region rather than expanding statewide, we maintain the depth of local knowledge that makes CJP's advice genuinely useful, and genuinely different from what a larger, more diffuse firm can offer.
